COMMUNITY SPIRIT

“As we celebrate a milestone year, this issue of STRIDES is also a celebration of this extraordinary spirit that connects us across borders and continents, and powers remarkable individual accomplishments by our educators and students.”

Exciting, interesting and eventful, 2016 has certainly made its presence felt! Marking 40 years since the establishment of the first Esol Education school, this year has seen us spread our wings, grow stronger as an organization, put down deeper roots, forge new partnerships and explore new ground.

What remains steady, as always, are the strong bonds and community spirit that exist within our schools. As we celebrate a milestone year, this issue of STRIDES is also a celebration of this extraordinary spirit that connects us across borders and continents, and powers remarkable individual accomplishments by our educators and students.

What remains steady, as always, are the strong bonds and community spirit that exist within our schools. As we celebrate a milestone year, this issue of STRIDES is also a celebration of this extraordinary spirit that connects us across borders and continents, and powers remarkable individual accomplishments by our educators and students.

We would like to commend our leadership and education teams at American International School in Abu Dhabi, where their perseverance and dedication to teaching excellence led to a two-tier jump to Band A in this year’s inspections by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), largely due to the improvements in teaching methodology and student outcomes. Universal American School furthered its mission to spread international-mindedness and critical thinking this year with its action-packed literacy week and a great example of independent, student-led service action. Inclusiveness and tolerance also feature prominently at Inspire Children’s Nursery, Dubai, which shares news of the cultural initiatives that were held for our early years students.

Hong Kong is the newest destination for STRIDES as we get news and photos from American School Hong Kong’s opening, as well as insight into the school’s vision, as it sets its sights on becoming one of the city’s premier international schools. Meanwhile, our students in Egypt have delighted us with their achievements, from Magda Azmy winning the Robert Sills Award at American International School in Egypt – Main Campus to Nadine Ghazi, student at Cairo English School, being selected to represent Egypt in a national women’s football team. News from American International School in Egypt – West Campus includes the school’s exceptional performance at the Model UN (MUN) in Romania where students swept the ‘best delegate’ awards and was awarded ‘best delegation’ for their representation of France at the conference.

We also hear from American International School in Cyprus and Universal College – Aley, where the arts are instilling confidence, responsibility and a sense of togetherness among students. Both schools share stories of exceptional student-led performances and the important lessons imparted by the experiences.

As we grow from strength to strength as an organization, we take great pride in seeing our students moving forward in all fields, from arts and sciences to sports and service. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our teams all over the world for their continued support and all the hard work it takes to build an exemplary community. It is an honor to serve you and we are looking forward to the next 40 years!

Sincerely yours,

Esol Education Team
