Mr. Michael Mallary, social studies teacher at American School Hong Kong, was selected to receive a scholarship to a postgraduate course run by National History Day® and sponsored by the U.S. World War I Centennial Commission. Through the Legacies of World War I program, Mr. Mallary participated in live webinars with World War I historians and will develop classroom activities to use with his own students at ASHK.

National History Day is a non-profit organization based in the United States that seeks to improve the teaching and learning of history. The National History Day Contest was established in 1974 and currently engages more than half a million students in conducting original research on historical topics of interest. ASHK middle school students will participate in the contest this academic year and will present their research as a documentary, exhibit, paper, performance, or website.
