Esol Education's 12,500 students represent more than 100 nationalities across 10 schools in six countries. The range of backgrounds, languages, and perspectives they bring shapes the character of each campus and strengthens the wider Esol community. Student life across the network extends far beyond the classroom.
Environmental Stewardship
Climate change leaders from Fairgreen International School, Dunecrest American School, and both campuses of American International School in Egypt represented their schools at COP28 in Dubai through the Decarbonize youth program.
Dunecrest and Fairgreen students led environmental projects through the Roots & Shoots program.
AIS West students participate in a living classroom, learning seeding, planting, harvesting, and selling the crops via the PTO Greenhouse Project.
Student Leadership
Student leadership is part of everyday school life at Esol Education. Across the network, students lead student councils, participate in National Honor Society, Model United Nations, organize community service projects, and compete in local and international sports leagues as well as the annual Esol Education Sportsfest. At American School of Bahrain and Cairo English School, students routinely take part in INJAZ, the region's most established youth entrepreneurship programs. The GirlUp club is active at both Egypt and UAE schools, raising awareness for women's issues.
Artistic Endeavors
At American School Hong Kong, Grade 8 student Yan Yan was recognized in March 2025 for her achievements in figure skating and jazz dance, balancing high-level competition with her academic studies. At Fairgreen International School, student creativity often begins with an idea and grows into work with real purpose. In 2025, Veronica and Diana were among the student designers representing Fairgreen in Junk Kouture, the global youth sustainable fashion competition. Working with recycled materials, they helped bring sustainability and design together in a way that reflects Fairgreen's wider culture of innovation, imagination, and purposeful student voice.
Alumni
Esol Education graduates continue to leading universities around the world, including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT, the University of Oxford, and University College London.
American International School in Egypt, Esol's oldest school, has a global alumni community of more than 20,000 graduates. Its alumni are building careers across sport, business, and academia.
Omar Marmoush, Class of 2017, plays as a forward for Manchester City and the Egypt national team. He made his professional debut at Wadi Degla, established himself at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he set a club-record scoring return at the start of a Bundesliga season, and signed for Manchester City in January 2025. Marmoush also represented his country in the national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in the United States.
Hamza Abdelkarim, Class of 2026, signed first on loan for FC Barcelona in early 2026 before shortly becoming a permanent team member - all while completing his final year at AIS Egypt, becoming the first Egyptian player in the club's history. Before his move to Barcelona, he made his professional debut for Al Ahly and was named in Egypt's squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the youngest Egyptian player in the tournament.
Abdallah Sallam, Class of 1996, is President and CEO of Madinet Masr, one of Egypt's leading urban developers and a company listed on the Egyptian Exchange. Dina Sherif, Class of 1995, serves as Executive Director of the MIT Kuo Sharper Center for Prosperity and Entrepreneurship, holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School, and was recognized as a United Nations SDG Pioneer in 2016.
At American School of Bahrain, Hasan Alasfoor, Class of 2026, joined the school on an ASB scholarship, developed his goalkeeping at Winners Academy, and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame before signing his first professional contract with East Riffa Club in Bahrain.
At American School Hong Kong, Matt Ho, Class of 2025, began his studies at Berklee College of Music after graduating from ASHK, while Rani Fung, Class of 2025, went on to pursue a Bachelor of Music at Juilliard in New York. Their journey reflects the strength of the school's music program and the way its graduates continue their growth on an international stage.
